Welcome to Stampabout!

We are Chad and Jake, two brothers who left their unsatisfying lifestyles to create new ones. We're not lucky, we don't come from money, and we're not debt-free. We are very, very normal guys with normal jobs, but we also know it's up to us to make any dreams we have a reality. (Learn more at our About Page!)

So what is our dream? From a young age, we have always wanted to travel the world adventurously and share it with others, so what better way than to host our very own travel adventure show on a major television network! Sounds hard right?

You're right. It is hard. It's very hard. And that's where the "Explore" tab will take you. It will allow you to explore the documentation of our journey from "very normal guys" to "Adventure Travel TV hosts." You will be able join in our triumphs and feel the pain of our failures. We will be as transparent as possible using our Episodes, Our Approach, Blog, and Interviews to relay what it's like to "Walk Your Talk."

Secondly, we hope you can use our journey as a springboard for your own journey--no matter what your dream is. We want to hear what you've always talked about doing, so that we, as a community, can help you take the first action. Head over to the "Engage" page to see what's cookin'!

We post a video every Monday, a blog post every Wednesday, and an inspiring piece of goodness every Friday.

If you feel like watching two brothers make a fool of themselves as they attack their dream head on, or maybe feel that the alternative lifestyle that keeps your mind racing at night needs a little push to come out of hiding, then sign up for our weekly email to keep updated and also to receive our FREE eGuide on how to "Walk Your Talk."

We're happy you're here, and we can't wait to see what happens next:

What Carrot Are You Chasing?

I started chasing “the carrot” right out of college. The carrot I was chasing (it’...

Kind of reminds me of the analogy of the tombstone….You have the Date you were born, a dash, and the date you died….the question is What did you do during that dash time! Because society tells you one way to do and you end up wasting time that you could have been spending doing what you really wanted to be doing…something meaningful…making memories!

    • StampAdmin says:

      Zoe-Baby!
Am I allowed to say that on this blog? Too late, already it said it because that’s all I know you as! I love that analogy! I’ve never heard it before, but it’s something I’ll start thinking about. Yep, memories are all that matter these days. I was so rushed in my work a few years ago that I never really took the time to make the meaningful memories. Thanks for the awesome comment!

  2. Alex Kocher says:

    Chad,
This is a poignant as ever in my life, for me and a very special person to me and sometimes I wish I could shake her (and myself) to wake up to what we are doing daily and how we spend our time and why. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite blogs! Keep writing and I’ll keep reading!

    • Chad says:

      Alex,
I watched this video over and over and over and each time it just kept hitting me harder and harder. I was chasing that end point, or the “final note” as Alan would say, and each time I thought I reached it another “final note” was put in front of me. Each time I missed the whole purpose of what I was doing. I vowed a few years ago I would never do that again…but, of course, I have. I just keep watching this video to remind myself that sometimes that thing we chase is just that…a thing we chase. Thanks for chiming in and following along. Let me know how we can help you man because we’re right there, too. We just want people to live their lives to the fullest because we don’t have a lot of time. Cheers buddy!

Why walk when you can run?...

    Point well made.
Now I just have to find a “plaque” for that!

  2. JD says:

You may get money in the bank, you may get that contract signed and I hope your dreams will be realized but a Cleavland Sports Team winning a title? Nah not in our lifetime…

    • StampAdmin says:

Haha! JD you may be right about that, but I think the Cavs will get it done when LeBron comes back to play for Cleveland. Oh, and we have Brandon Weeden starting for the Browns so we’re a shoe-in for the Super Bowl for sure.

  3. Zoe Tatar says:

I wish I was your age again…I would start all over and follow your advice!!! I’m proud to know you Jacob and keep dreaming! I have some dreams myself and Bryan and I are going after them!

100 Years

100 Years. That’s all I’ve got. At least that’s what I’ve been assuming for the last 10 year...

  1. Seth Taylor says:

I agree completely….in a way it is kind of depressing. Time does fly, and we need to enjoy as much as we can while we are still able to do so. I feel like I get in this routine that is comfortable and don’t take enough adventures anymore. Luckily for me, my job sends me to a lot of cool places, but I need to do more on my own. I remember when I was a kid and how adventurous and creative and weird I was …..I need to get that person back.

    • StampAdmin says:

Totally agree! I feel that the reason time seems “to fly” is because of the routine we often find ourselves in. When every day consists of the same checklist, we get pretty good at getting through that list… fast. When we challenge ourselves every day to do something new (i.e. out of routine), things slow down. We have to think, focus, get excited, learn, and grow. When we were all kids, days were LONG. We were constantly doing something new… but that doesn’t mean as adults, we can’t find adventures in our every day lives too!

So the question is, how do we “get that person back?”

I think its time to throw wrenches into the routine…..

    Jake,
I’ve recently been introduced to stampabout and I love it. The posts are thoughtful and inspiring. Unfortunately, this topic holds especially true with me, and in my lead up to a transition in my own life I need to let go of the things that hinder my progress. Thanks for sharing and keep walking the talk!

    • StampAdmin says:

      Alex! Thanks for reading!

It’s tough, but it’s worth it. We’re hoping stampabout shows that walking your talk is no cake walk, but is a far better option than unhappiness and complacency. Definitely check out the “100 years” post by Chad and the pillar videos we have under the “our approach” tab!

  2. What I learned from a wonderful professor of mine… Humans love satisfaction now. Our minds and body crave everything that has instant gratification. It is hard to reverse, but you are doing exactly what needs to be done, baby steps is all it takes. Now to get studying for that last final tomorrow…..

Keep it up guys! I’m a Production Assistant looking to become a DP (director of photography) some day, with a love for traveling! This show sounds like it would be amazing, if done right. Hit me up I know some wanna be producers (office PAs at the moment)!

    • StampAdmin says:

Sounds like you’re right up our alley! And you had a very wise professor haha.

      Good luck on your final!!

    Chad,

I am so proud of you! Facing many of my own adversities (serious family health issues, work challenges, etc.) this was inspiring to read! I am so happy that you are following your dreams…making them become a reality and inspiring others, in practical ways, to do the same! You are awesome!

    • Chad says:

Mary Ann! I’m sure your adversity is tough, probably much tougher than what I had to deal with so I hope and pray that you’re able to push through. Thanks for the positive feedback. We’re just trying to lead by example and do what we said we’re going to do, regardless of what obstacles come our way. Hope all is well and much luv to you!

Stampabout: Two Brothers and Their Baby

It takes 10 years to become an expert at something. Are you mastering what you love?...

  1. Dwain Smith says:

Some 30+ years ago, while watching my mentor perform a “routine” surgery with an apparently effortless ease (meanwhile I found myself struggling to find that same ease), I asked him how long did it take to become so proficient. His answer: “about 10 years”. And about 10 years after asking the question, one day I stepped back and realized that I had acquired the same proficiency.

    • StampAdmin says:

Hi Dwain! Or do I call you Mr. Smith? It’s amazing what happens after 10 years of consistent practice on something. It’s taken us (at least me) a decent amount of time to really find that one thing I want to commit 10 years to, but I know I’m (we’re) there now. We’re excited to have that same “effortless ease” with world travel as you did with surgery. Thanks for commenting and can’t wait to meet you. Cheers! -Chad

  2. GREAT story! Best of luck, you guys! Love the “10 years” question. Malcolm Gladwell is a smart dude. Outliers has been on my reading list forever — may have to move it up to the top now!

I’m shirtless because I had just gotten back from a bike ride; it was a sweltering day in that concrete jungle called NYC and I lived on the top floor of a walk-up with no A/C. Plus you guys asked me to take off my clothes before the interview (that last comment may/ may not be true).
